Behind the Scenes #1 -- I'm starting a podcast
Hello friend,
Welcome to Statement Mondays!!! I hope you don’t mind, I’ve added you to my update emails (biweekly) about my latest adventure -- starting a podcast. As a friend, mentor, or supporter of mine I’d be honored if you’d let me share with you the behind-the-scenes of this new endeavor.
👠 What is Statement Mondays? It’s a podcast for college and early-career women about being bold and authentic in the workplace. I interview career-minded women with strong identities who give examples, advice, and tools that inspire listeners to bring more of who they are into what they do. The full title is Statement Mondays: Interviews With Women Who Wear Heels to Work.
🧠 #1 thing on my mind:
I’ve done 10 interviews, am mid-editing, and I’m considering how everything should come together. How do I want to bring myself in as a character throughout the podcast? What do I need to do differently in future interviews to adjust for that?
🤓 Learnings:
I’m applying the Double Diamond model: research & interviews → defining the problem & podcast branding → dial back into interviews with more direction → re-evaluating the problem & revisiting branding → ...
So many podcasters! Now that I’m a podcaster, my friends and mentors have connected me with many others -- hi Harry! Hi Carly! Hi Sam! I even joined a podcast collective this month to get to know some other creators… apparently there exist over 850,000 active podcasts!
🙌 Shoutouts:
Thank you to everyone who gave feedback on my trailer script v1, in particular Laney for her extremely detailed edits!
Thank you to my two interns, Mallory and Lauren, for their hard and enthusiastic work this summer! They worked with me on editing audio, designing the first episodes, and building a website, and they’re headed back to school soon!
(In my updates I hope it’s alright if I lean on you all for support and feedback! No pressure whatsoever)
🍪 Asks:
I’m looking for mentors! Do you know any women who would be excited to be a sounding board for my many podcast ideas? I need help thinking through A/B tests, launch strategy and narrative shaping. Experience in media not required. Let me know and I’ll send you a fwd’able email!

I’m so lucky for all my friends, family, supporters, guests I interview, and fellow podcast creators I talk to -- thank you for taking the time to read my latest update! :)
And if you need a reason to be bold today, here it is -- today is Statement Monday.
